Andersonville (Limited) Opening May 4th

On May 4th, Visionary Andersonville will be re-opening in a limited capacity. We’re very excited to see our patients again, but we wanted to share with you exactly how we’re taking steps to make this process safe for you and our staff.

Limited Hours and Medical Priority

Our Andersonville office will be open, but we will not be operating at our full regular hours. Both our hours and appointment slots will be limited, prioritizing appointments for patients with ongoing medical conditions (glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc). We will also be seeing emergency care patients as well as patients whose care has been postponed. There will never be any more than one patient seen at one time, and all visits will be on an appointment-only basis.

While it’s true that the CDCs nationwide recommendation to postpone routine eye care is no longer in effect*, Visionary Eye Care will not be resuming routine eye care examinations (like annual checkups) so long as the shelter-in-place order continues in Illinois.
We are following guidelines as set by the AOA and the CDC for reopening.
*Visionary Eye Care is considered an essential business under Governor Pritzker’s Executive Order 20-10 as listed by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

Safety First: Face Masks and Clean Hands

Due to the necessary closeness of eye appointments, all patients will be required to wear face masks during their time in our office. Of course, our doctors and staff will be wearing them for your protection and ours. Patients will also be required to wash and sanitize their hands in the office prior to their appointments (as, of course, our doctors already do). Additionally, we will be conducting touch-free temperature readings for everyone who enters our office. Finally, we ask that our patients come unaccompanied to their appointment unless it’s absolutely necessary to bring a companion, caretaker, or child.

Sanitized for Your Protection

Our opticians are sanitizing every frame in the office, both before and after your visit. We will retrieve frames for you to try on, and you can rest easy knowing they’ve been sanitized. We are Barbicide certified (yep, that Barbicide!), and all of our frames are clean and safe for use.

Telehealth Options for Existing Patients

We offer consultations with our doctors via telehealth so that your questions can be answered in the safety of your own home. All telehealth requests must be made through our patient portal, and is therefore only available to our existing patients. Please note that all consultations via telehealth will be charged to your insurance, and you will therefore be responsible for any copays your provider charges.

Curbside Pickup and Drop-off

If you need contacts, eyewear, or eyewear repair, we’re here for you! We are offering no-touch curbside pickup and drop-off for these items. Please note that these services are by appointment only, and we will accommodate your request as quickly as we can. Also, remember that you can order contacts online through our website at any time.

We will be implementing more changes in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines to ensure the safety of our patients and our staff. As always, we will keep you updated with the latest as it happens. We value our community and our patients above all else, and we look forward to serving you as soon as possible, as safely as possible. Thank you for being a Visionary.
