Finding Glasses You Adore

When it comes to spectacles, most people know the basic steps: you go to the eye doctor, pick out a pair of glasses, and then pick them up a while later. Ever wonder what exactly goes on in between those steps? What exactly goes into making a pair of glasses, and who is behind the scenes, making sure you can see?

A lot of work goes into making glasses. After the doctor assesses your vision needs, running tests to ensure any glasses prescription is right for your eyes and your lifestyle, they will hand the prescription to the optician. This is where you need an experienced optician, one who can help you choose a frame based on your facial features and head size, lifestyle, personal style, and prescription. After that, the optician will do measurements to ensure a perfect fit. Based on the wealth of information they just gathered from you, and your doctor, the optician will choose a lens and lens material that will best suit you.

After the order for the lenses and frames have been placed, it will get handed off to the lab. The lab technician will double check the lens choices, and will order lenses once everything is confirmed. When the lenses arrive, the lab technician will plug in all the measurements and adjust the way the lenses are cut to ensure the best fit in the frame. Once everything is cut, the lab technician will double check the final product before contacting the patient. Obviously, there are even more steps than this (some lens makers are out of state, and some frame manufacturers are out of the country), and complicated orders can be a series of seemingly endless steps. However, you now have a general idea of what goes into your pair of Visionary Eye Care glasses!

This process, and every person who has their hands in it, is what makes your glasses special. Each person and step of the way was designed to help you to see and look your best, and we wouldn’t accept anything less. That’s why the opticians at Visionary work hard to help you find the Glasses Trifecta: Fit, Form and Functionality.

Fit:

Our opticians look carefully at how the frame fits your face. A well-fitting pair of glasses will be both comfortable and flattering.

Form:

Just because glasses are a corrective device does not mean they can’t be fashionable. Whether you’re looking for glasses that are professional, funky, oversized or subtle, we keep in mind that they are part of your look, and we help you find the pair that fits both your style and personality.

Functionality:

We aren’t just considering the frame options. We are also looking at your prescription to make sure that we choose the correct lenses and finishes. We make sure that the lenses look great in the frames and provide crisp, clear vision that suits your needs (whether it’s all day/all around wear, occupational glasses, computer glasses or reading glasses).

There’s nothing better than one of our patients coming back the next year and telling us how much they love their glasses, and they are looking forward to getting another pair. So come on by - let’s shop! Here is a list of our current frame vendors.

Side note: In the event you have an injury or eye infection and can’t wear contacts, it’s important to always have a pair of glasses in your current prescription (that you aren’t embarrassed to wear in public).
