We leave on February 8 for the next VOSH Illinois mission to Samaipata, Bolivia.
I would like to thank several people. The Visionary Crew has been wonderful about helping out. They have cleaned and organized glasses, helped me pack and put up with me running around like a crazy person. It puts stress on everyone in the practice for me to be away for such a long time.
Thank you to all of the Visionary patients who have donated glasses and money! Diana Kollaritsch, a long time family friend and patient donated $50. This will cover the luggage fees for one bag of medications or glasses or equipment.
Thank you Jamar and Marty for organizing the fundraiser February 8, 2015 from 2:00 to 5:00 at Marty’s Martini Bar, 1511 W Balmoral. Come have a delicious martini and help people in need. It’s a win-win.
My partner, Randall Jackson, has been amazingly supportive of these trips. He has volunteered to help out on all three mission trips I have signed up for. I am so lucky to have a partner who shares my interest in helping out on these eye care missions. He is donating his time and money without any hesitation.
Renee Reilly is a friend of mine from Augustana College where we both majored in Spanish. Our shared passion for the hispanic culture and Spanish language was further cemented when we both attended an exchange program in Arequipa, Peru. Renee is a tremendous person with a truly remarkable family. Her daughter Elena, who was 11 years old at the time, on her own, sponsored a glasses collection drive at her school. Renee has volunteered to help on this mission. Her upbeat attitude and Spanish proficiency will make her a valuable asset on this trip.
