Changes are happening more than showers this June. David Spencer heads to our Loop location to add some funk to the downtown office lot. Plus, Mykita, STATE Optical, and Ray-Ban are all now Loop exclusives.

Our newest Andersonville additions, Blake Kuwahara and Haffmans & Neumeister, are worth a visit and some try-on time.

Designer Blake Kuwahara describes his eyewear as, “artful but wearable,” and we couldn’t agree more. By using laborious production techniques and a lot of handwork, an inner silhouette is encased in an unexpectedly fresh outer shape. This seamless fusion of two frames and the juxtaposition of contrasting form and color create a design tension that is thoroughly modern yet comfortably familiar.

Mr. Kuwahara’s designs are influenced by his training in optometry, giving him a considerable edge. He has designed eyewear collections for Coach, Converse, Lucky Brand, Rock & Republic, Carolina Herrera, Isaac Mizrahi, and John Varvatos.

When designers Daniel and Philipp Haffmans and Jean-Pierre Neumeister left Mykita (the eyewear label they helped found after creating IC! Berlin), the industry was surprised. It didn’t take long for the trio to remind the world why they’re so successful, and why they’re building a brand around the style they love.

All of the HNM collections exclusively consist of flat metal frames, and they have already announced a new patented hinge concept, which will figure front and center of the Ultralight collection. If these designs feel like a throwback, it’s because they’re modern versions of what these creators and designers love best. It’s a throw forward.

We are thrilled to have these collections at our stores and to bring you the very latest and best in eyewear and eye care. Make your appointment today to make sure your prescription is up to date, then get fitted for the freshest styles for summer!
