Though she was born in the Orange County, Dr. Fatima is a Chicagoan through and through. She moved to the Midwest at the age of six and grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago. She completed a Bachelors in Biological Sciences with a specialization in microbiology at the University of Chicago. During undergrad, she wrote and designed for MODA Chicago, taught as a biochemistry teaching assistant, and volunteered with Mission for Vision and The Chicago Lighthouse.
After living in Hyde Park, Dr. Fatima moved to Bronzeville and attended the Illinois College of Optometry. At ICO, her love of healthcare was nurtured and her strong desire to preserve vision was culminated. Dr. Fatima attended the Alcon Academy for Eyecare Excellence in Texas and the Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Institute in Florida during optometry school. She completed her fourth year clinical rotations at Visionary Eye Care Professionals, The Sidney Hillman Health Center, The Chicago Lighthouse, The Pangere Center for Inherited Retinal Diseases, LensCrafters, and at the Illinois Eye Institute. She graduated with her doctorate in May 2016.
She joined Visionary Eye Care Professionals in June 2016 and provides full scope primary care with a focus on pediatrics and binocular vision. Outside of the office, she enjoys trying new restaurants from Chicago’s incredible culinary scene, going to the theatre for live performances and film adaptations, traveling, and exploring all that the beautiful city of Chicago has to offer.
